Why I Started Writing Again

Why I Started Writing Again

I stopped writing for a long time.

Not because I didn’t have anything to say. Because I didn’t think anyone wanted to hear it.

When the company I worked for closed, I lost more than my income. I lost the version of myself that felt useful. The one who had a title, a role, a reason to open her laptop every morning. For weeks, I went quiet. I answered messages with “I’m fine.” I didn’t post anything. I didn’t write anything. I just survived, one day at a time.

And then someone said something simple to me: “You should write about this. Not for anyone else. For you.”

What writing actually does

I’m not talking about journaling in some beautiful notebook with a nice pen. I’m talking about the messy kind. The kind where you open a blank page and type whatever comes, even if it doesn’t make sense, even if it’s just “I’m scared and I don’t know what I’m doing.”

Here’s what I noticed after a few days:

  • My chest felt lighter. Like I’d set something down that I’d been carrying.
  • I could see my own thoughts more clearly. When they’re in your head, they swirl. When they’re on a page, they stay still long enough to look at.
  • I started recognizing patterns. The same fears. The same hopes. The same small wins I kept forgetting.

Why I’m writing here now

StoicPrism started as an idea. Now it’s a real website with real products I made myself. But the part I kept avoiding was the blog. Because a blog means being visible. It means someone might read it and think “Who does she think she is?”

But here’s what I keep coming back to: someone might read it and think “Me too.”

That’s worth more than staying quiet.

What I’m writing about

Every day from here, I’m showing up on this blog. Not because I have it all figured out. Because I don’t. But because I know what it feels like to rebuild from nothing, and I know I’m not the only one.

Some days it’ll be practical — a routine, a tip, a tool. Some days it’ll be personal — a story, a fear, a small win. Some days it’ll be short. Some days it’ll be longer than it needs to be.

But it’ll be honest. Every time.

If you’re where I was

If you’re sitting on the floor of your life right now, wondering if you should even bother getting up — write it down. Not for me. Not for anyone. Just for you.

Put one sentence on a page. Then another. That’s how it starts.

That’s how it started for me.

This is Day 1 of my daily writing streak. Follow along — or start your own.
